Among the standout additions is the surprising Mega Evolution for Victreebel, a classic Pokémon from the original 151, alongside new forms for Hawlucha and Dragonite.
The Mega Victreebel announcement came through a creatively crafted horror-themed teaser video titled "The Case of the Sweet Scent Incident," which ultimately maintained a family-friendly tone despite its eerie setup. The reveal trailer displayed this Grass/Poison-type Pokémon hopping through Lumiose City and using powerful acid capable of melting steel, adding a visually striking and formidable presence. Its evolution retains the iconic dual typing but introduces a novel design where Victreebel’s bulbous stomach is engorged with acid, contained by a vine tied around its throat.
Adding to the excitement, Mega Hawlucha was introduced as a new powerhouse with a wrestler-inspired design. This Fighting/Flying-type Pokémon boasts enhanced musculature that allows it to take and retaliate against opponent attacks, culminating in its signature move, Flying Press.
